 1. Polylactide(PLA)

1.1 D,L- polylactide (D,L-PLA)

●   D,L-PLA is a kind of amorphous polymer,whose glass transition temperature (Tg) is 50~60℃。

●  Viscosity IV:0.5~9 dl/g,molecular weight :5,000~700,000。

●  It has been approved by American Food and Drug Administration(FDA) as carrier material of injectable microcapsules, microspheres and implants , and for internal fixation. 

●  It can be used as porous foam scaffold for cell culture in tissue engineering,which can be designed with different factor of porosity、aperture and degradation velocity.

1.2 L-polylactide(L-PLA)

●   L-PLA is a kind of crystalline polymer,whose  Tg is 60~65℃。    

●  Fusing point: 175~185℃, viscosity IV:0.5~9 dl/g,molecular weight : 5,000~700,000。

●  Extensively applied in internal fixators such as bone plates, bone pins, surgical sutures, electro spun fibers, et al.

2. Poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA)

 ● DL-LA/GA:90/10、80/20、75/25、60/40、50/50.

●  DL-PLGA is a kind of amorphous polymer;Tg:45~55℃,viscosity IV:0.10~2.0 dl/g,molecular weight 5,000~300,000.

●  The polymers can be produced with variable structure property such as glass state and soft, fabricable materials。

●  It can be used as medical films, and carrier material of sustained release dosage systems such as injectable microcapsules, injectable microspheres and implants . 

●  It can also be used as porous scaffold for cell culture in tissue engineering,which can be designed with different factor of porosity、aperture and degradation velocity. 

3.Thermosensitive polylactide hydrogels-MPEG-PLA、MPEG-PLGA

●   Amorphous polymers; Tg:45~55℃; viscosity IV:0.10~1.0 dl/g; molecular weight :5,000~200,000.

●  MPEG-PLA and MPEG-PLGA are more hydrophilic than PLA, and have all property of thermosensitive hydrogels.

●  MPEG-PLA and MPEG-PLGA can completely dissolved in water at certain concentration at 4℃, but the aqueous solution rapidly turn to hydrogel at body temperature. So, drugs or cells can be mixed with the polymers’ solution and injected to human body, then it rapidly turn to hydrogel at body temperature. 

●    The polymers can also be used as carrier material of sustained release dosage systems and scaffold for cell culture in tissue engineering.

 4. PLA-PEG-PLA、PLGA-PEG-PLGA

●  Amorphous polymers; Tg:40~50℃; viscosity IV:0.10~1.0 dl/g; molecular weight :5,000~200,000.

●    The polymers are more hydrophilic than PLA, and also be used as carrier material of sustained release dosage systems and scaffold for cell culture in tissue engineering.

 5、PLA-COOH、PLGA-COOH

●  Amorphous polymers; Tg:45~55℃; viscosity IV:0.10~9.0 dl/g; molecular weight :5,000~700,000.

●  With the terminal carboxy group, the polymers can easily be further modified when it is necessary.

6、P(CPP-SA)

 ●  Polyanhydride is a new class of carrier material of short-acting controlled-release preparations. It has been approved for postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy of recurrent malignant gliomas by FDA.  

●  Because of the surface erosion degradation characterization of polyanhydride, drugs nearly obey zero-order release. Speed of drug degradation and release can be controlled through adjusting proportion of the polymers and relative molecular weight.

 7、TMC、P(LA-TMC)

●  TMC has favourable biocompatibility and biodegradability.

●  TMC is elastic in the rubbery state at body temperature, extensively used as degradable bandaging wares, material of controlled release dosage forms, implants and supporting materials in vivo. 

●  It can be copolymerized with other polyesters such as PLA to improve its property.

 8、PPDO、P(LA-PDO)

●  PPDO is degradable aliphatic polyester, with excellent tenacity, tensile strength, ligature strength, and strength retention, can be used for monofilament suture.

●  It can be copolymerized with other polyesters such as PLA to improve its property.

 Monomers

1、L-Lactide and racemic D,L-lactide:

●  DL-LA:CAS.R.NO:95-96-5
        Melting point:125-127℃,moisture capacity≤0.4%, heavy metals≤10ppm, dissociation (mgNaOH/kg) ≤1, percentage of ash≤0.05%, purity≥99.5%.

●  L-LA:CAS.R.NO:4511-42-6

Melting point:96-98℃, moisture capacity≤0.4%, heavy metals≤10ppm, dissociation (mgNaOH/kg) ≤1, percentage of ash≤0.05%, purity≥99.5%, optical rotation: -260.

 2、Glycolide (GA):CAS.R.No: 502-97-6

Melting point:82-85℃, moisture capacity≤0.4%, heavy metals≤10ppm, dissociation (mgNaOH/kg) ≤1, percentage of ash≤0.05%, purity≥99.5%.

 3、Trimethylene Carbonate(TMC):CAS.R.No: 2453-03-4

Melting point:45-47℃, moisture capacity≤0.4%, heavy metals≤10ppm, dissociation (mgNaOH/kg) ≤1, percentage of ash≤0.05%, purity≥99.5%.

4、 P-dioxanone(PDO):CAS.R.No:3041-16-5

Melting point: 26-28℃, moisture capacity≤0.4%, heavy metals≤10ppm, dissociation (mgNaOH/kg) ≤1, percentage of ash≤0.05%, purity≥99.5%.

Biomedical products

 1、Electrospun fibers and membrane:

●    Nanofiber mats is produced through electrospinning, and it is used in cell culture in tissue engineering,     postoperative prevention of adhesion and organ covering.

2、Porous foam scaffolds(lamellar/ tubular/ clubbed):

  The scaffolds are used for cell culture in tissue engineering,which can be designed with different factor of porosity, aperture and degradation velocity.

 3.     polylatide fiber:

Monofilament or multistrand  wire, used as surgical suture and degradable scaffold.

 4、Elastic polylatide membrane:

After the processing of special technics, PLA has plasticity and elasticity, and the shortcoming of the lack of tenacity of PLA has been overcome. It can be used in the anti-conglutination and organic binding after operation.
